I AM like other women.
I work hard.
I’ve ALWAYS worked hard.
Just like any other woman.
Many teenagers try to convince others that they are different. That they are not just a ditsy woman who likes to wear makeup. But by trying to convince others of this, you are also making the statement that women are mostly like this.
But that’s not what we are like. Yes, there are a more than a few women that are like this, but even so, there is no reason to make fun of them the way that people do. They like to wear makeup, so what? SO do I, so do a lot of women.
But I also do like to lounge around in sweats and a loose t-shirt while watching television as much as the next girl. We all like to do that. It isn’t just a select few like some girls would like you to think.
I used to be one of those girls. One of the ones who would post something that started with “I’m not like most girls, I…”. I used to think I was better than women. But as a matter of fact, there was nothing to be better than.
Women need to stand together to fight against these prejudgments that many people make, that many people want us to apologize for.
But here is the thing- we don’t have to apologize for being feminine. Femininity is not a bad thing. Being sensitive, liking to get dressed up, wearing makeup, loving people, taking care of someone, etc. You don’t need to apologize for being who you are.
Be proud of who you are.
Be proud of being a woman.
Of being sensitive.
Of liking to work.
Of liking to relax.
Of liking to wear makeup.
Of liking to wear sweatpants.
Be proud to work hard.
Be who you are. Work WITH women, not against them.
Women are not a laughing stock, we are sensitive, hardworking, patient. We are beautiful, no matter our size, shape, color, etc. we are beautiful.
Be like other women. Be yourself. Let yourself be who you want to be. Don’t let society tell you to be anything you aren’t.
I am like other women. I am sensitive. I am fiery. I am beautiful. I like wearing makeup. I like relaxing. I work hard. I do whatever I can to make the world a better place. I’m overemotional at times. I ugly cry. I can be stubborn.
But I will not apologize for any of it.
