This is a series I think I am going to start for every month. I chose the number 7 because 10 was a bit much and 5 was too short, and also 7 is the most magical, powerful number (@ all you Harry Potter fans). Let’s get started!
Okay so I haven’t actually been doing a LOT of thrifting, (I am a college student who spent a SHIT ton of money at the end of the semester) ((retail therapy is a problem)). But what I have done has actually been really fun and my sister has been helping me with projects with my old clothes (i.e. making my pants pockets bigger). I cannot sew or knit for my life so luckily I have a wonderful sister who will help me bring my ideas to life.
2. Straight leg jeans
I’ve been loving how these look. They are more roomy that skinny jeans and I can also either cuff them or cut the ends to give them a frayed look because I am a tiny human.
3. Bullet Journaling
I’ve always been into bullet journaling but I’m really trying to step it up this summer. I am keeping my spreads simple and letting the planning take over more than the artistic abilities. I love being creative with my journals, so now I print out color coordinated pictures based on a theme rather than drawing them to save time and put more of an emphasis on the plans. It also makes the journal look scrapbook-y and simple.
4. Watching bestdressed youtube videos
Bestdressed is a fashion youtuber named Ashley who thrifts and makes her thrifted clothes redesigned. She’s really fun to watch and her videos are awesome so I highly recommend checking her out.
I have been doing a lot of spring/summer cleaning of my room because it has just been so cluttered, and honestly it is very freeing. I love getting to donate or sell things because it gives me more freedom in my room to move around and gives me peace of mind.
6. Learning about blogging
I have been trying to learn about blogging for a while now, but doing so while blogging has given me insight on what people actually mean. I have been reading a lot of books and articles about blogging, and what I have learned most of all is that there is no right way to blog. Yes, there are things you can do to help you blog (posting regularly, using tags, etc.) but it is ultimately up to you what you do with it. And I think that is a really good way to look at it.
7. Oversized sweaters/sweatshirts with shorts/ripped jeans
I’ve also been loving this trend. I love wearing sweaters, and I used to hate wearing shorts (I was emo for a short 2 years of my life). But now, I combine the two and I think it makes very cute outfits. I have also been getting into the trend of ripped jeans, which I was never really into before.
PRO TIP: instead of buying new ripped jeans for an insane price at Kohls or your usual clothing store, go thrifting instead because the rips with a. look more natural and b. will cost less.
